Basketball Recap: Patterson Mill Starts Season with Win on the Road

Patterson Mill had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They enjoyed a cozy 57-40 win over the Perryville Panthers on Friday. Patterson Mill has seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw Perryville, too.

Patterson Mill's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sophia Trinh, who posted 16 points and four steals. The dominant performance gave Trinh a new career-high in points. Sophia Marchena was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Perryville's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Alyssa Stanley, who had 14 points and three steals, and Kaleyah Croxsell, who posted nine points along with five rebounds and three blocks. Stanley is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played dating back to last season.

Patterson Mill didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 35-20 victory against Harford Tech on the 10th. As for Perryville, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 61-24 win against Tri-State Christian on the 11th.
