Football Recap: Five Straight Home Victories for Woodbridge

Woodbridge had won five straight at home, but on Monday they bumped up to 13-6 to make it six. They put the hurt on the Rosary Academy Royals with a sharp 33-12 win. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won six matchups by 20 points or more so far this season.

As for Rosary Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-15 record this season. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 321st, while Woodbridge is ranked 39th).

Rosary Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Hailey Huerta, who rushed for 142 yards and two TDs on only 12 carries, and also threw for 164 yards on 14 of 22 attempts. Rosary Academy also got help from Sophie Lickl, who showed off her sure hands for 158 receiving yards.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Woodbridge will challenge rival Portola at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Warriors 10.7, the Bulldogs 8.8) so any points scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Rosary Academy is set to face off against their familiar foe University at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
