Basketball Recap: Grain Valley Comes Up Short

Grain Valley was the 57-54 winner over Belton when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Grain Valley Eagles took a 57-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Belton Pirates.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Belton to victory, but perhaps none more so than Caleb Campbell, who went 7-for-11 en route to 17 points and six boards. Cooper Shrum was another key player, going 5-for-11 to rack up 15 points and seven rebounds.

Grain Valley's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 12-8. As for Belton, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-13.

Looking ahead, Grain Valley is taking a road trip to square off against Chrisman at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Grain Valley is facing Chrisman at the right time seeing as Chrisman is stuck on a 19-game losing streak. As for Belton, they will face off against Platte County at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Belton is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.6 points per game this season.
