Basketball Game Preview: Oakwood Comets vs. Iroquois West Raiders

The Oakwood Comets will head out on the road to face off against the Iroquois West Raiders at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Oakwood will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Last Tuesday, Oakwood didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Westville, but they still walked away with a 49-45 win.

Meanwhile, Iroquois West played a tough match on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 69-35 defeat at the hands of Hoopeston. The Raiders were down 58-29 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Oakwood pushed their record up to 15-11 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.0 points per game. As for Iroquois West, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-14 record this season.

Oakwood took their win against Iroquois West in their previous matchup back in February of 2024 by a conclusive 67-42. In that contest, Oakwood amassed a halftime lead of 36-16, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
