Softball Recap: Garces Memorial Falls Short of Monache in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Garces Memorial can now relate to. They fell just short of the Monache Marauders by a score of 4-3 on Thursday. The Rams were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Marauders apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2021.

Jaiden Gutierrez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up eight Ks.

At the plate, Brooklyn Castro made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two runs and one double. Another player making a difference was Lexi Marquez, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Garces Memorial's loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 20-9. As for Monache, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 17-5-1.

As of now, neither Garces Memorial nor the Marauders have any future games scheduled.
