Softball Game Preview: George County Rebels vs. Long Beach Bearcats

For the second straight game, George County will face off against Long Beach. The Rebels will head out on the road to face off against the Bearcats at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (George County has six straight victories, Long Beach has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

George County's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They walked away with a 4-0 win over Long Beach.

The result came thanks to Peyton Collins's shutout, as she gave up just four hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Blakey Slay, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in February. Kyleigh Howell also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

George County's victory was their 11th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Long Beach, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-11.
