Gateway is 2-8 against San Francisco Waldorf since October of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Gators will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wolverines at 5:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
On Tuesday, Gateway didn't have quite enough to beat International and fell 3-2. While the Gators didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Jaguars 25-15 in the first set.
Gateway actually scored more points across those five sets (99-95), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The match finished with set scores of 15-25, 25-18, 25-23, 15-25, 15-8.
Meanwhile, San Francisco Waldorf came up short against Drew on Tuesday, falling 3-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Wolverines have suffered against the Dragons since October 20, 2021.
While San Francisco Waldorf was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Drew's winning margin in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 25-16, 25-17.
Gateway's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 5-5. As for San Francisco Waldorf, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-15.
Gateway took their victory against San Francisco Waldorf in their previous matchup back in September by a conclusive 3-0 score. Will the Gators repeat their success, or do the Wolverines have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
