Baseball Game Preview: Vanguard Knights vs. P.K. Yonge Blue Wave

The Vanguard Knights will square off against the P.K. Yonge Blue Wave at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Vanguard will be coming into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.

On Monday, Vanguard narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Dunnellon 7-6.

JJ Thomas looked comfortable as he pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Gavin Aiton, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Aiton is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's stolen at least one every time he's taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for P.K. Yonge's offense. They came up short against Gainesville on Friday, falling 8-0. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Blue Wave's shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

P.K. Yonge saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Josh Davis, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Vanguard's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-0. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 3.5 runs across that stretch. As for P.K. Yonge, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.
