Softball Game Preview: Chaparral Roadrunners vs. Medicine Lodge Indians

Chaparral is 2-8 against Medicine Lodge since April of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Roadrunners will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Indians at 4:00 p.m. Chaparral has given up an average of 11.8 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Chaparral is headed into Monday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game two weeks ago. They lost 17-7 to Medicine Lodge.

For Medicine Lodge's part, Avalon Theis spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and three unearned) runs on three hits.

At the plate, Maryn Inslee was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with four runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Those doubles marked the first that she has hit this season. Emmy Gerdes was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Medicine Lodge was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Medicine Lodge dropped their record down to 4-6 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Chaparral, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.
