Softball Game Preview: Summit Charter Collegiate Academy Bears vs. South Spartans

The Summit Charter Collegiate Academy Bears will take on the South Spartans in a tournament on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Summit Charter Collegiate Academy took a loss when they played away from home last Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Wonderful College Prep Academy as they made off with a 10-2 win. The Bears haven't had any issues with the Wolves recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, South waltzed into their game on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They blew past the Blades 20-2. Considering the Spartans have won eight contests by more than eight runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Scarlett Lopez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Lopez was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Kloie Wetmore was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was London Terrance, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3.

Summit Charter Collegiate Academy's record now sits at 2-5. As for South, their record is now 11-7.
