Baseball Recap: Highland Extends Home Winning Streak to Seven

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Highland and Red Hook, and Highland kept the tradition alive. The Huskies came out on top against the Raiders by a score of 4-1 on Wednesday. Those four runs were actually the fewest the Huskies have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Hunter Tomlin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, Highland saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Benjamin Cappallino, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Highland's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Red Hook, they moved to 6-5 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Highland will face off against Webutuck at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Warriors will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Huskies surely won't give up without a fight. As for Red Hook, they will challenge Saugerties at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
