Basketball Recap: Hampton County Hurricanes vs. Woodland Wolverines

The Hampton County Hurricanes entered their tilt with the Woodland Wolverines with nine consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with ten. Hampton County secured a 76-70 W over the Wolverines on Friday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.

It was another big night for Kavon Chisolm, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds. He has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last seven times he's played. Another player making a difference was Xaviar Garvin, who scored ten points along with six rebounds.

Several Wolverines players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tyree Edwards, who scored 26 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Edwards has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 12 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of JaKease Salley, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds.

Hampton County's victory was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 20-5. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.3 points per game. As for Woodland, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-9.

Coincidentally, Hampton County and the Wolverines will both be playing the Warhorses the next time they take the court. Woodland will head out to face Barnwell at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, while Hampton County will host them at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
