Baseball Game Preview: Caston Comets vs. Culver Community Cavaliers

For the second straight game, Caston will face off against Culver Community. The Comets are taking a road trip to take on the Cavaliers at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Caston is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.6 runs per game this season.

Caston took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Culver Community a 4-0 shutout.

Carson Harness made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 15 over six innings pitched. Those 15 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Harness wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Logan Mollenkopf, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Corbyn Bailey also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Caston pushed their record up to 10-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for Culver Community, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.
