Softball Recap: Delone Catholic Wins Going Away Against York Catholic

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Big Spring, Delone Catholic was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the York Catholic Fighting Irish with a sharp 16-8 victory. With that win, the Squires brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.

Adyson Hummer made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in May of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Emily Goodwin was a standout: she scored three runs while going 3-for-4. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Keira Slonaker, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

Delone Catholic was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.

The victory snapped Delone Catholic's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 2-7 record. As for York Catholic, their defeat was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-6.
