Recap: Wortham Bulldogs vs. Marlin Bulldogs
This season hasn't been kind to the Wortham Bulldogs, who are still winless after their 12th matchup. They were outmatched by Marlin at home and fell 94-14. While losing is never fun, Wortham can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1499th, while Marlin is ranked 195th).
Marlin got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kya Mitchell out in front who scored 21 points along with eight steals and five assists. Mitchell is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Aaria Johnson was another key contributor, scoring 21 points along with six steals.
Wortham bumped their record down to 0-12 with that defeat, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Marlin, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-2.
Wortham will head out on the road to face off against Hubbard at 12:15 p.m. on Friday. Hubbard is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. As for Marlin, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Bremond at 6:15 p.m. Bremond is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
