League recap: Tobar dominating on the mound for West Oso

3A Region IV District 30 league recap: 3/13/13

West Oso's Joe Tobar was the best pitcher in 3A Region IV District 30 this week. He struck out eight batters this week.

Sinton had a successful week, as it won three total games to lead the league. The Pirates beat Alice 9-8 and Hidalgo 8-7.

Ingleside stole 16 bases this week, adding to its league-leading 39 steals on the year.

West Oso put just five batters on base with walks in the past week, but the Mustangs' pitching staff has had the best control this season, surrendering a walk only 19 times in 83 innings this year.

Ingleside's Hunter Havelka tore up 3A Region IV District 30 this week as he led the league in average, hits and RBIs. Havelka compiled a .571 average on eight hits and drove in five runs.



The week's strikeout crown belonged to Isaac Suniga, who turned in 11 Ks for the Mustangs. With 15 strikeouts this year so far, he ranks fifth in the league.

Ingleside's Conner Steadman threw six shutout innings in a 5-0 win over Incarnate Word Academy on Friday. He pitched six scoreless innings and struck out eight, while giving up two hits.
