Basketball Recap: Monroe Gets the Win

Monroe hadn't done well against Meadowdale recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Monroe Bearcats slipped by the Meadowdale Mavericks 50-49. The win was all the more spectacular given the Bearcats' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 185th, while the Mavericks are ranked 45th).

Monroe now has a winning record of 11-10. As for Meadowdale, their loss dropped their record down to 15-6.

Looking ahead, Monroe will face off against Stanwood at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Stanwood knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Monroe likes a good challenge. As for Meadowdale, they will welcome Mount Vernon at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
