Baseball Game Preview: Byron Nelson Bobcat vs. Coronado Thunderbirds

The Byron Nelson Bobcat will take on the Coronado Thunderbirds at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Byron Nelson's pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so Coronado's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Byron Nelson is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They walked away with a 7-2 victory over Boswell.

Meanwhile, Coronado waltzed into their matchup on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They walked away with an 8-4 win over the Bulldogs. Eight seems to be a good number for the Thunderbirds as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Jaxon Baptist tossed a big game, pitching six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Anthony Rivas, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Ben Wilson was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs.

Coronado's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 25-10. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Byron Nelson, their win bumped their record up to 22-10-1.
