Softball Recap: Elk Grove Picks Up Third Straight Win at Home

Elk Grove won against Pleasant Grove last Wednesday with seven runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. Elk Grove never let the Cosumnes Oaks Wolfpack get on the board and left with a 7-0 win. The Thundering Herd haven't had any issues with the Wolfpack recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Elk Grove got a great performance from Ella Lincoln as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over six innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave Lincoln a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

At the plate, Loie Moore was excellent, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Annabel Focht, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Elk Grove hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 4-2 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Elk Grove's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-6. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Cosumnes Oaks, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 3-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Elk Grove will head out to square off against Franklin at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Elk Grove's pitchers better be ready for this one: Franklin has averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season. As for Cosumnes Oaks, they will take on Pleasant Grove at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Pleasant Grove's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Cosumnes Oaks' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
