Basketball Recap: San Isidro Comes Up Short

San Isidro was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 54-31 to the Progreso Red Ants. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Red Ants apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2024.

Progreso was led to victory by Ramon Gamboa and Samuel Hernandez. Gamboa posted ten points in addition to eight boards and three steals, while Hernandez almost dropped a double-double with ten points and nine rebounds. Those nine rebounds gave Hernandez a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ivan Rodriguez, who scored 12 points and five boards.

San Isidro's loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Progreso, their win bumped their record up to 3-7.

Looking ahead, San Isidro and IDEA Quest College Prep will face off at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest, having both just played. As for Progreso, they and Raymondville will face off at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday without much rest, having both just played.
