The Livingston Wolves are taking a road trip to face off against the Beyer Patriots at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
In Wednesday's Canine Competition, Livingston came out on top. They took their matchup against Ceres on Wednesday 14-9. Winning may never get old, but the Wolves sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
The team relied heavily on Olivia Costa, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That home run was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexis Ross, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base.
Livingston always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Beyer). Everything went their way against Johansen on Monday as Beyer made off with an 18-1 win. Considering the Patriots have won four games by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Destiny Pitts made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That one hit allowed gave her a new career-low. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 4-for-5. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in hits.
In other batting news, AnnMarie Scott was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-4. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Alanna Verges was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.
Beyer pushed their record up to 8-5 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Livingston, their record now sits at 4-2.
Both Livingston and Beyer just can't seem to miss. Livingston has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 12.7 hits per game. However, it's not like Beyer struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.4 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
