Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a  season-high score is even better (just ask St. Johns). They blew past the Pinon Eagles 16-2 on Friday. The Redskins haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive  victory against them.
 McKray Johnson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound,   tossing two innings while giving up   no  earned runs off   one  hit. St. Johns is 2-1 when  Johnson allows two or  fewer  hits, but 4-7 otherwise. Johnson was also big at the plate,  scoring two  runs while going 1-for-4.
 In other batting news,  Dane Avila and  T Platt did most of the damage at the plate:  Avila  scored two  runs while going 3-for-4, while  Platt  scored two  runs and  stole three bases while going 1-for-3. The dominant performance also gave  Avila a new career-high in  RBI (three).  Juan Calderon was another key player,  scoring two  runs and  stealing a base while  getting on base  in two of his four plate appearances.
 St. Johns  hit smart and  finished the game with only one  strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters  in three consecutive  matches.
St. Johns pushed their record up to 6-8 with the  win, which was their fourth straight  at home. Those  home  victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Pinon,  this is the second loss in a row for them and  nudges their season record down to 4-5.
 Coming up, St. Johns will take on Joseph City at 2:00  p.m.  on Monday. The Redskins are facing the Wildcats at the right time seeing as the Wildcats are stuck on  a  four-game losing streak. As for Pinon, they will square off against Northland Prep Academy at 12:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Spartans have averaged an impressive 9.3  runs per game this season.
