Softball Recap: Bellbrook Triumphs

While Bellbrook's win against Monroe wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Golden Eagles' pitcher stepped up to hand the Hornets a 1-0 shutout on Wednesday. The Golden Eagles haven't had any issues with the Hornets recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

Abigail Hebrank (2028) was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 20 over seven innings pitched. Those 20 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Hebrank (2028) wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Lainey Schleich (2025), who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Heidi Pummell (2027) was another, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases.

Bellbrook hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Bellbrook's win bumped their record up to 14-10. As for Monroe, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-4.

Bellbrook will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Hornets: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
