Baseball Game Preview: Prospect Knights vs. Wheeling Wildcats

For the second straight game, Prospect will face off against Wheeling. The Knights will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against the Wildcats at 4:45 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Prospect has three straight wins, Wheeling has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Prospect let Wheeling stack eight runs on them in the seventh inning on Monday but luckily Prospect prevailed anyway. The Knights sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 12-11 victory over the Wildcats.

Prospect got a great performance from Lucas Nelson as he tossed six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. What's more, Nelson posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.

At the plate, John Bazula was a standout: he went 3-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Matt Jackson, who went 4-for-5 with four RBI and two runs.

Prospect kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive matches.

Wheeling now has a losing record of 7-8. As for Prospect, their win bumped their record up to 9-4-1.
