Baseball Game Preview: L.E.A.D. Academy Lions vs. Rocky Bayou Christian Knights

The L.E.A.D. Academy Lions will challenge the Rocky Bayou Christian Knights at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. L.E.A.D. Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.

On Thursday, L.E.A.D. Academy needed a bit of extra time to put away Laurel Hill. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Hoboes, sneaking past 17-16. The win was nothing new for the Lions as they're now sitting on three straight.

Silas Brown and Jaxon Greenier were a major factor no matter where they played. On the mound, Brown tossed three innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Greenier tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off one hit. What's more, Brown posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February. At the plate, Brown scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his six plate appearances, while Greenier scored a run while going 2-for-5. Brown has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last eight times he's played.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Logan Badejo, who went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Bradley Floyd was another, scoring a run while getting on base in four of his six plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Rocky Bayou Christian came up short against Pensacola Christian Academy on Thursday, falling 17-3.

L.E.A.D. Academy pushed their record up to 8-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Rocky Bayou Christian, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-6-1.

L.E.A.D. Academy suffered a grim 7-0 defeat to Rocky Bayou Christian in their previous meeting back in February. Can the Lions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
