Baseball Recap: Coleton Newbern and Davis Bradley Secure Win for D.H. Conley

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last five times D.H. Conley and J.H. Rose have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Tuesday. D.H. Conley never let J.H. Rose get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. Considering the Vikings have won three matches by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Not much got past Tucker Anderson, who gave up just a hit and racked up 13 Ks to keep J.H. Rose off the board. Anderson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, D.H. Conley let Davis Bradley and Coleton Newbern run wild. Bradley went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Newbern went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and two runs. That's the most RBI Bradley has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Hunter Layton, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: D.H. Conley lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

D.H. Conley's record now sits at 8-1. As for J.H. Rose, their loss ended an 11-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 7-2.

D.H. Conley and J.H. Rose should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings. D.H. Conley (ranked 29th) will meet Jacksonville (ranked 374th) at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, J.H. Rose will square off against North Raleigh Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday up 38 places (8 vs. 46).
