Football Recap: Waco Christian Piles Up the Points Against Big Springs Charter

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Waco Christian). They claimed a resounding 59-18 win over the Big Springs Charter BSCS Hawks. The Warriors have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the BSCS Hawks on Friday, too.

One reason for the win was Waco Christian's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Matthew Kolb, Walter Watson, and Travis Like, who each picked up one sack apiece.

Despite the defeat, Big Springs Charter had strong showings from Colby Ramos, who gained 137 total yards and two touchdowns, and Juan Mata, who gained 104 total yards and a touchdown.

Waco Christian's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Big Springs Charter, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Waco Christian will challenge St. Paul's Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Warriors will be up against the Lions' rather soft defense (which has allowed 63.75 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Big Springs Charter, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Knippa at 7:00 p.m. on October 3.
