Basketball Game Preview: El Campo Ricebirds vs. Brazosport Exporters

Two dominant guards in Riannah Miles and Deja El-Amin are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The El Campo Ricebirds will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Brazosport Exporters at 6:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

El Campo is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Tidehaven just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Saturday. They lost to the Tigers on the road by a 52-36 margin. While losing is never fun, the Ricebirds can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 947th, while the Tigers are ranked 326th).

Miles put forth a good effort for the losing side as she posted 19 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 11 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kami Miller, who put up no points and five steals.

Even though they lost, El Campo smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 12 consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Brazosport's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. Their2024 ended with a 63-47 defeat against George Ranch.

Brazosport's loss dropped their record down to 8-8. As for El Campo, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-10.

Things could have been worse for El Campo, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 60-45 loss to Brazosport when the teams last played back in November of 2023. Can El Campo avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
