Basketball Game Preview: Bixby Spartans vs. Ponca City Wildcats

The Bixby Spartans will take on the Ponca City Wildcats at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Last Friday, Bixby was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 72-68 to Stillwater.

Meanwhile, Ponca City was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 92-41 loss at the hands of Union. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 293rd, while the Redhawks are ranked tenth).

Bixby will have to contain Trenton Wilson as he made an impact in Ponca City's last game. He posted nine points. Those nine points gave Wilson a new career-high.

Bixby's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-17. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.0 points over those games. As for Ponca City, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-17.

Bixby was able to grind out a solid victory over Ponca City when the teams last played back in January, winning 51-41. Will Bixby repeat their success, or does Ponca City have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
