Preview: Jackson Aggies vs. Blount Leopards
The Jackson Aggies will head out on the road to face off against the Blount Leopards at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Jackson focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up five on Thursday.
Jackson had to kick off their season on the road, but they showed no ill effects. They breezed by Fruitdale on the road to the tune of 72-15.
Jackson can attribute much of their success to Micah Caster, who scored 12 points along with 5 assists and 4 steals, and William Joseph Taylor, who scored 15 points along with 3 steals. Another player making a difference was Keeyun Chapman, who scored 10 points along with 6 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Blount pushed their score all the way to 58 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 62-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mary G. Montgomery. While losing is never fun, Blount can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 181st, while Mary G. Montgomery is ranked eighth).
The losing side was boosted by Andrew Williams, who scored 26 points along with 3 steals. Williams is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Jaiden Beck was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Jackson's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Blount, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.
