Baseball Recap: Bloomfield's Luck Changes for the Better on Monday

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Bloomfield ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Cedar Grove Panthers 9-8. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Bengals as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

Bloomfield gave Conor Ennis the start and clearly made the right call: he tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off nine hits. The dominant performance also gave Ennis a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

On the hitting side, Bloomfield let Jack Menake and Braeden Weber run wild. Menake went 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI, while Weber went 3-for-5 with three runs. That's the most runs Menake has posted since back in April of 2025. Miles Jimenez was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Bloomfield kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Bloomfield's win bumped their record up to 3-8. As for Cedar Grove, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bloomfield will host St. Benedict's Prep at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Cedar Grove, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Caldwell at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Panthers 3.8, the Chiefs 2.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
