Recap: Thornton Trojans vs. Prairie View Thunderhawks
The Thornton Trojans were the 47-42 winner over the Prairie View Thunderhawks when they last played one another back in January of 2020, but their luck changed this time around. Thornton was dealt a 46-18 loss at the hands of Prairie View on Friday. Thornton was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 27-4.
Thornton lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Camryn Montelongo, who scored two points along with 11 rebounds and three steals.
It was another big night for Celicia Robles, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 12 steals for Prairie View. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Robles has scored at least 25% of Prairie View's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sky Swanson, who scored three points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
Thornton's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Prairie View, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-2.
Thornton won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Liberty Common at 11:00 a.m. on December 9th. Prairie View won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Valley at 6:30 p.m. on December 9th. Hopefully Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Friday.
