Volleyball Game Preview: Mt. Hope Huskies vs. St. Raphael Academy Saints

After both having extra time off, the Mt. Hope Huskies and the St. Raphael Academy Saints will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Mt. Hope is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Rhode Island's top teams: Portsmouth, who was ranked 12th at the time (Mt. Hope was ranked 15th). The Huskies fell 3-1 to the Patriots on Wednesday. The Huskies' defeat signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

While Mt. Hope had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 18 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 24-26, 25-18, 25-22.

Despite the loss, Mt. Hope had strong showings from Rasheed Braddock, who had 13 digs, and Arion Ferris, who had six digs.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Wednesday St. Raphael Academy sidestepped Exeter-West Greenwich for a 3-2 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Saints.

St. Raphael Academy pushed their record up to 7-10 with the win, which was their third straight at home. As for Mt. Hope, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-3.

Everything went Mt. Hope's way against St. Raphael Academy in their previous meeting on May 1st, as Mt. Hope made off with a 3-0 victory. Will the Huskies repeat their success, or do the Saints have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
