Softball Recap: DeKalb Comes Up Short

If DeKalb was feeling good fresh off their 6-0 takedown of Rochelle on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Barbs came up short against the Stillman Valley Cardinals on Saturday, falling 18-8. The Barbs haven't had much luck with the Cardinals recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Isabel Aranda was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Hazel Montavon was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs.

DeKalb's loss dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Stillman Valley, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-2.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: DeKalb beat the Cardinals by a score of 9-5 later that day.
