Baseball Game Preview: Hugo Buffaloes vs. Valliant Bulldogs

Hugo hasn't had much luck against Valliant recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Buffaloes will head out on the road to square off against the Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. Hugo has given up an average of 9.2 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Hugo is headed into Monday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Friday. They came up short against Tushka, falling 11-1.

Hugo saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dakota Coulter, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI. Coulter has become a key player for the Buffaloes: the team is 6-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 3-14 otherwise.

Meanwhile, Valliant fell victim to Red Oak and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 1-0. The Bulldogs have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Landyn Howard spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

Valliant's loss dropped their record down to 14-11. As for Hugo, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-15.

Hugo couldn't quite get it done against Valliant in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 as they fell 3-0. Can the Buffaloes avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
