Softball Recap: Friday's Victory Is Pleasant Grove's Ninth in Last Ten Outings

Pleasant Grove extended their postseason success on Friday against Lone Peak. They blew past the Knights 13-3. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won 16 matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Keslie Draney made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Pleasant Grove let Aniston Norton and Mary Severe run wild. Norton went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs, while Severe went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Grace Norman was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

Pleasant Grove hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in six consecutive games.

Pleasant Grove has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Lone Peak, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-18.

Coming up, Pleasant Grove will take on Bingham at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday. The Miners will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Vikings surely won't give up without a fight. Lone Peak does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
