Baseball Recap: Briarcrest Christian Comes Up Short

Briarcrest Christian fell victim to Gulfport and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They wound up with the same score they had in their last game (1-0), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time.

Nathan Powers was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, Briarcrest Christian saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Landon Rogers, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Briarcrest Christian's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Gulfport, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-4.

Looking ahead, Briarcrest Christian will face off against Hartfield Academy at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Gulfport, they will head out on the road to challenge D'Iberville at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
