It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Spring Valley ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Lugoff-Elgin Demons 6-5. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Demons recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

The team relied heavily on Jacob Smoak, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Williams, who went 3-for-5 with one stolen base and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Spring Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Spring Valley's win bumped their record up to 8-11. As for Lugoff-Elgin, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-12-1.

Spring Valley will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Demons: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
