Basketball Recap: Gabby Curtis' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Goose Creek over Wando

Goose Creek lost against Wando back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Goose Creek Gators took a 44-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wando Warriors.

Goose Creek lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Gabby Curtis, who went 5 of 9 en route to 13 points along with five boards and four steals. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in points. Aubrey Downey was another key player, putting up eight points and three steals.

Wando got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Makenna Reynolds out in front who posted 11 points. Another player making a difference was Annabelle Cox, who had seven points in addition to 14 rebounds and three steals.

Goose Creek's defeat dropped their record down to 11-9. As for Wando, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-4 record this season.

Looking ahead, Goose Creek will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Stratford at 6:00 p.m. As for Wando, they are taking a road trip to square off against Lucy Beckham at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Wando is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.6 points per game this season.
