Baseball Game Preview: McCann Tech Hornets vs. Mount Greylock Regional Mounties

The McCann Tech Hornets will head out to challenge the Mount Greylock Regional Mounties at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. McCann Tech will be strutting in after a win while Mount Greylock Regional will be coming in after a loss.

McCann Tech's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. Everything went their way against Lee as they made off with a 10-0 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Hornets considering their two-run performance the game before.

Hayden Barrett made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.

In other batting news, Zach Howland was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Brody Smith was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Mount Greylock Regional was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They came up short against Mount Anthony, falling 8-2.

McCann Tech has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Mount Greylock Regional, their loss dropped their record down to 5-12.

McCann Tech beat Mount Greylock Regional 7-4 in their previous matchup two weeks ago. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hornets since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
