Soccer Game Preview: Hebron vs. Marcus

The Hebron Hawks will challenge the Marcus Marauders at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Hebron is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Coppell just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Tuesday. Neither they nor the Cowboys could gain the upper hand so the two teams had to settle for a 0-0 draw. The result (or lack thereof) marked the Hawks' first draw of the season.

Meanwhile, Marcus had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.5 goals) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Farmers a 1-0 shutout. Given the Marauders' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 78th, while the Farmers are ranked 501st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Marcus' one-goal win came courtesy of Ethan Garza, who's now up to three this season.

Marcus pushed their record up to 5-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up two goals over those five contests. Hebron's draw gives them a new season record of 4-1-1.

Hebron came out on top in a nail-biter against Marcus in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. Does Hebron have another victory up their sleeve, or will Marcus turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
