Softball Recap: Del Oro's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Del Oro posted their closest win since March 8, 2024 on Tuesday. They skirted past the Elk Grove Thundering Herd 5-3. For the Golden Eagles, this counts as revenge for the 11-6 victory the Thundering Herd walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2024.

Mikayla Finn looked comfortable as she tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Caelyn Campos was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Johnson, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and one run.

The win (which was Del Oro's third in a row) raised their record to 3-0. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Elk Grove, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-3.

Coincidentally, Del Oro and Elk Grove will both be playing Ponderosa the next time they take the field. Del Oro will host Ponderosa at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, while Elk Grove will head out to face them at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
