Softball Game Preview: Fort Bend Elkins Knights vs. Fort Bend Travis Tigers

Fort Bend Elkins is 1-9 against Fort Bend Travis since February of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Knights will square off against the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. Fort Bend Elkins is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.

Fort Bend Elkins will bounce into Friday's match after beating Fort Bend Austin, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Knights put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 15-4 win on Tuesday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Knights needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Adrian Thummel spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on five hits.

At the plate, Fort Bend Elkins got a massive performance out of Madison Clay, who went 2-for-5 with six RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those six RBI gave Clay a new career-high. Jaila Davis was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-5.

Meanwhile, Fort Bend Travis unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Tuesday. They lost 14-1 to Ridge Point.

Fort Bend Travis' defeat dropped their record down to 7-7-1. As for Fort Bend Elkins, their record is now 3-11.

Fort Bend Elkins suffered a grim 20-1 defeat to Fort Bend Travis when the teams last played back in March. Can the Knights avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
