Preview: Reserve Mountaineers vs. Melrose Buffaloes
The Reserve Mountaineers will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against the Melrose Buffaloes at 3:45 p.m. on December 21st. Reserve will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New Mexico Rankings (they are ranked 126th, while Melrose is ranked 25th).
After soaring to 64 points the game before, Reserve were a bit more limited in their match on Saturday. They were dealt a 61-25 defeat at the hands of Dora.
Meanwhile, Melrose put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They claimed a resounding 82-37 victory over Socorro on the road. The result was nothing new for Melrose, who have now won five contests by 40 points or more so far this season.
Reserve's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Melrose, their win bumped their record up to 6-0.
Reserve was taken down by Melrose 73-30 when the teams last played back in January of 2020. The game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Reserve was down 44-16.
