Derby scored the most points they've had this season on Monday, but it wasn't enough. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 62-61 to the Whitney RVT Owls. The Red Raiders just can't catch a break and have now endured five losses in a row.

Despite the loss, Derby still got an impressive performance from Shea Gray, who dropped a double-double with 50 points and 21 boards. That was a full 82% of the Red Raiders' points, marking the ninth time in a row Gray has posted more than a third of the team's points.

Derby's record is now 1-8. As for Whitney RVT, the win got them back to even at 2-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Derby will host Kennedy at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Whitney RVT, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Wilcox RVT at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
