Not much got past Taylor Danley, who gave up just four hits and racked up 14 Ks to keep Homestead off the board. Danley has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Carroll's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Macey Denison, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, Westfield beat Western 6-2 on Tuesday.
Mackenzie Delph spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on one hit and racked up seven Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Sofia Easterhaus, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Todd, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs.
Westfield's victory bumped their record up to 17-10-1. As for Carroll, their win bumped their record up to 27-1.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Saturday. Carroll hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.7 home runs per game. However, it's not like Westfield struggles in that department as they've been averaging 1 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
