Softball Game Preview: Calvert Cavaliers vs. La Plata Warriors

The Calvert Cavaliers are taking a road trip to take on the La Plata Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Calvert will be strutting in after a victory while La Plata will be coming in after a loss.

Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Calvert turned things around against Great Mills on Friday. They walked away with a 9-5 win over the Hornets.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 12 runs the game before, La Plata was a bit more limited in their game on Friday. They fell just short of Chopticon by a score of 2-1. The loss continues a trend for the Warriors in their meetings with the Braves: they've now lost six in a row.

La Plata got a good showing from Lauren McChesney, who pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. McChesney has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, La Plata saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Leah Buck, who went 2-for-4 with one double. That double was Buck's first of the season.

The victory got Calvert back to even at 6-6. As for La Plata, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-8.

Calvert might still be hurting after the 9-1 loss they got from La Plata in their previous matchup last Wednesday. Can the Cavaliers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
