Basketball Recap: Rank Disadvantage No Problem for Oconto

Oconto won the last time they faced Oconto Falls and things went their way on Saturday too. The Oconto Blue Devils walked away with a 62-53 win over the Oconto Falls Panthers. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Blue Devils' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 285th, while the Panthers are ranked 130th).

Despite the loss, Oconto Falls still got an impressive performance from Jameson Beaman, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 boards. Jj Pytleski was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Oconto has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.0 points per game. As for Oconto Falls, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oconto will take on Chilton at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday. Oconto is facing Chilton at the right time seeing as Chilton is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Oconto Falls, they will challenge Marinette at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
