Baseball Game Preview: St. Monica Mariners vs. Pacific Grove Breakers

The St. Monica Mariners will head out to face off against the Pacific Grove Breakers at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. St. Monica will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

On Friday, St. Monica earned a 13-8 victory over Watsonville.

St. Monica let Gabriel Campbell and Dylan Hyman run wild. Campbell got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases, two runs, and one double, while Hyman got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those two runs gave Hyman a new career-high. Nathan Warmington also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Alisal typically has all the answers at home, but on Friday Pacific Grove proved too difficult a challenge. They skirted past the Trojans 4-2. Surprisingly, this marked the Breakers' fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

The team relied heavily on River Lyon, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Pacific Grove is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for St. Monica, their victory bumped their record up to 10-11.
