Baseball Preview: Carson Cougars vs. Mount Pleasant Tigers

The Carson Cougars will head out on the road to take on the Mount Pleasant Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Carson will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Carson proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by 13) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out South Rowan 6-4.

Kendal Sifford tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits.

On the hitting side, Cameron Williamson was excellent, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ryan Snyder, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Carson hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Mount Pleasant's offense. They lost 8-0 to North Stanly on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Tigers have suffered since April 10, 2024.

Mount Pleasant also got a good showing from Mason Ferguson, who didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Ferguson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Mount Pleasant saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Keaton Lee, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Carson's record now sits at 12-8. As for Mount Pleasant, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-8.
